Hiking Support Group
Join this exciting new group that combines the powerful benefits of being in nature, physical exercise, mindfulness practice, and interpersonal connections to help relieve symptoms of anxiety and depression.
In this group you will:
- Learn interesting information about the trail/area we are hiking
- Learn to redirect persistent, distracting thoughts so you can connect with the moment
- Practice mindfulness techniques
- Process your feelings and receive compassionate feedback in a safe environment
- Enjoy a moderately challenging physical workout
Every other Saturday morning, we will meet at the trailhead at 10am for introductions, orientation, and some light stretching before hitting the trail. Our hikes will be 3-5 miles long with moderate elevation gain located within about an hour of Seattle. There will be several breaks to engage in mindfulness techniques, sip water, and take in the beauty around us.
when: June 24th, July 8th, & July 22nd
*Please plan to attend at least two of the three groups
Duration: 2-3.5 Hours
(this allows for differences in pace, breaks, and talking time)
About Group Therapy
Group therapy can be a wonderful way to connect with others who are struggling with similar issues and are also interested in change and personal development. Participating in groups provide you with multiple perspectives while still getting support and sound guidance from a licensed professional.
