Therapy FAQ

How do i know if therapy is right for me?

Talking with a counselor can be very helpful for various concerns, including receiving support and guidance regarding life transitions, couples/relationship issues, stress, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and self-exploration or growth. If you're still not sure therapy can help, call 503-564-8609 or schedule your free 30 minute consultation online now.

Do I need a referral?

A referral is not needed to begin therapy at Fresh Perspectives! Check out our convenient online scheduler to find an available appointment or call 503-564-8609. It should take no longer than a few days to schedule your first session.

How long does therapy last?

It can be frustrating to constantly hear "Well, it depends" but in this case, the length of therapy truly does depend on several factors. I usually recommend attending sessions on a weekly basis, especially at the beginning. Many people can begin experiencing relief after 4-6 sessions. Attending therapy weekly rather than having sessions spread farther apart often results in needing fewer total sessions. The length of therapy will also depend on your commitment to working on your goals between sessions.

Clients are welcome and encouraged to schedule "refresher" sessions later on down the road, as well.

Do you accept my insurance?

Fresh Perspectives Therapy currently accepts Premera, Cigna, Regence insurances, as well as private-pay clients. I am working toward getting paneled with different insurances, so feel free to ask if yours is accepted! Many insurance companies will reimburse for out-of-network services or will allow you to use funds from your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pay for therapy, as well.

Take a look at our Fees and Payments page to learn more.

What happens if i can't make a scheduled session?

Fresh Perspectives Therapy requires 24 hours notice for cancellations. Consistency in attendance is of vital importance to the effectiveness of therapy and your success in this process is a priority. Missing an appointment or canceling with less than 24 hours notice (and without a note from your physician in the case of illness) can result in being charged the full amount for the scheduled appointment.
